Catalyst Pilates was born from real life — from the messy, beautiful juggle of being a mum of two, navigating long‑term health conditions, working full-time and discovering just how powerful movement can be when it’s approached with kindness and curiosity. Here, movement isn’t about perfection. It’s about possibility.

My story - Amy

Hi I am Amy and as well as teaching Pilates, I am a  mum of two and I work full-time in the civil service making policy. You might be thinking why teach Pilates then...  well as a young girl I studied and obtained BSc Sports Science degree (Equine and Human) and although I loved all things sport and biomechanics I faced serious health challenges which took me on a different path.

I have always loved  to exercise and for much of my life I have ridden horses, played hockey and run. As I have got older my long-term health condition has been more prominent in my physical health and recovery from high impact exercise was taking longer and becoming more difficult. For me Pilates has been a constant that allows me to move mindfully, and I feel stronger and happier for having it in my life.

For me it feels like my life has done a full 180 degrees turn, as I have now completed the comprehensive mat-work Pilates training with the renowned APPI reigniting my passion for biomechanics and exercise. I have learnt how the body works, heals, and adapts and how to build strength in an empowering way to reconnect you to your body, calm your mind, and remind you that strength comes from within. It is this passion and understanding that inspires me to teach Pilates.
